Centralya

Centralya was a short lived band Z and Kalina played in. This was a cool project that Z was able to pour a lot of himself into — lyrically, artistically and emotionally. We were only able to do a small run down and up the coast before we stopped creating, but that small experience was a great one that us as a team are forever grateful for.

Photo:

All the photos used within Centralya’s lifespan (besides band photos and live shots) were done by me in a photo class back in college. I took a film class with the legend Ellen Carry, and the only way I was allowed on a tour with my old band Boundaries, was to take a camera with me and capture the moments. This was what came from it and what was eventually used in this band later on.

Video:

We wanted to utilize video the most we could throughout this album rollout to serve not only as a sort of social media ‘hype up’, but to capture the old film camera/home video feel of the project. Towards the end of the band, we made some stuff using video friends took at shows to hype up our tour dates, other shows etc. Here’s some stuff that we put together throughout the album cycle and the band’s lifespan.

Take a listen:

“After realizing that getting this recorded, mixed and mastered would be way too much money for a bunch of kids writing post hardcore in their rooms over discord calls — I decided to take matters into my own hands, watch a lot of youtube videos, and produce our record. This is the first time I took on this role in any musical project I’ve been in. Though it may not be the best and my singing may be a little rough around the edges (be nice), it’s something I’m very proud of and a chapter in my life that continues to push me to grow and learn today. Turn it up, hurt your car speakers and enjoy.” — Z
